California Lutheran University

California Lutheran University (also CLU or Cal Lutheran) is a private, liberal arts university found in Thousand Oaks, a small southern Californian city. It turned out founded in 1959 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, but is nonsectarian. Their mission is %u201Cto practice leaders for any global society who will be strong in character and judgment, positive their identity and vocation, and devoted to service and justice.


In 1954, a committee was formed jointly over the American Lutheran Church as well as the Lutheran Church in the united states (Both of these organizations later merged with another organization being the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the us.) to organize a Lutheran college in California. Five churches served about the committee, dubbed the California Lutheran Education Foundation, which still owns the university. Richard Pederson, son of Scandinavian immigrants, donated 130 acres of farmland for your university in 1957. In 1959, the institution was officially incorporated, with Orville Dahl, Ed. D. instituted because the first president.

 The faculty opened towards the first incoming class in September 1961, and it was accredited from the Western Association of faculties and Secondary Schools in March 1962. Dahl served as president until 1962, bringing the university%u2019s first football coach,
